[REVIEW] Fear (The Copper Horse #1) by K.A. Merikan

Fear (The Copper Horse #1)
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Recommended by: ARC
Recommended for: A must read for all ponyplay/animal role play fans
Read from February 24 to 27, 2014 — I own a copy, read count: 1

5 Thrilled Stars cos I love this fuck-horse-slave-thing. It makes me tingly all over!

I am pleased that Fear is not some cocktease ponyplay book. The human pony here is for real not the kind of dom/sub play session to get each other off. Fear comes with all sorts of delightful pony get-ups like tail plugs, halter, harnesses, bit gag and a horse mane haircut and various other pony training devices. What's more exciting is the presence of a groom and a firm owner who wasn't shy on dishing out punishments to a deserving pony. The story has subjugation of a young man with mild humiliation and degradation. And the protagonist had to endure whole lot of torments on his body and soul to be transformed into a mere pet, a plaything of a wealthy tyrannic crime lord.

THE STORY & CHARACTERS
Reuben was a down on his luck poor baker's son who was gradually reduced to the status of a pet horse by a manipulative man he was now forced to call his master. No matter how hard he resisted, Erik always has the right punishment to cure him of his disobedience. Erik is a fascinating character to me. I think he is a very good psychological manipulator (check out the link, he ticks almost all the boxes). He is such an eccentric, he baffles both Reuben aka Copper (his pet name now) and me. Copper struggles to understand his master in his effort to avoid those devious punishments he fears so much. Unfortunately this is a tough thing to do as Erik is much like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Poor Copper, his days are spent tip-toeing around his master.

Copper's master has a strong kink for all things equestrian. The choice of an equine themed home decor in his house is a great example aside from his deviant habit of keeping humans as pet horses. He is a shameless debaucher who derives his sexual fulfillment through bedding two-legged horses. On the other hand, Reuben was a closeted gay feeling shameful of his sexual orientation and would try his best to repress it. Which is why he found being stuck as a pet to a perverted handsome master has its own merits. It was liberating to be able to enjoy his guilty pleasure minus the guilt factor since he has no say in whatsoever perverted games his master forced upon him. Besides that he does enjoys being pampered, have his every needs taken care of and receiving praises lavished upon him which felt real good. His master is actually kind and fair when he is a good horse. He was cherished as a prized stallion and was doted on by both his master and groom. Only all these good things comes with a hefty price -- his total lost of freedom and his dignity as a man is at risk. Could he give up all this for a taste of luxury?

As days goes by, Copper learned that the best way to stay pain-free and enjoy more guilt-free sex is to act like a real horse his master had wanted him to be. He would whinny and nuzzle his master affectionately to gain his approval and hope for rewards. I love it when he does that.
"I don't! I never lie! I am a very honest horse!" Reuben tried being funny again and nuzzled Erik's cheek. His master's expression softened at the caress, and Reuben felt Erik's hands circling his waist.

Me thinks Copper is damn cute when he is a fine and obedient horse. I would want him for myself if I could. I'll dote on him and give him all the sugar cubes he could eat then make him run on the treadmill till he drop. ∋━━o(`∀´oメ)~→

WHAT I LIKE MOST

★ I adore the angst and the hurt-comfort thing going on with Copper and his master and also with Jack his groom who dotes on him.

I love that the author knows how to dish out exciting sexual tension. Copper was so torn between liking the sexual attention and loathing his positive reactions to it. He felt ashamed of his weakness. Erik is such a beast when it comes to feeding his carnal urges, he has no qualms advertising his sexual desire for his male pet horse even with an audience. I applaud him for embracing his kink so proudly. I heart Erik (。♥‿♥。)

Ample focus on the ponyplay part. I enjoyed Copper's pony training very much and loves how firm and authoritative his master was throughout his training. Copper's master may be strict but he does not neglect Copper's pleasures. I also like how Copper gradually adapts to his pet status in Erik's household. His reluctance and angst was a divine feast to me.

OVERVIEW
Fear was a bravely written ponyplay erotica that is very much dedicate to pet play. It was truly fascinating to watch the bonding of this pair of master and pet. They seemed to be made for each other. The story was rather sweet and funny. Most importantly, it was hot as hell. My body and mind took much pleasure in reading it. No kidding, I was tingly all over and loving every moment of it. *bliss*

I admit that there are some minor editing issues here and there maybe because mine was an advance review copy. Yet I am glad it did not affect my level of enjoyment. I am very proud of the K.A. Merikan team for nailing this theme perfectly and I can't wait for the next installment of this thrilling ponyplay trilogy. I need to know if Reuben has truly submitted to his tyrannic master. Please don't make me wait too long.

Lastly I wish to commend the authors for not skimping on the word count just because the book was part of a serialization. In my humble opinion, Fear is a full-fledged novel and worthy of it's price tag.

If you are a true fan of ponyplay and had always wished to get more than a glimpse of it from the books you read, then you will love this one for sure. Not only did it not shy away from the subject, it stays focused on it as well. This point alone already made it a rare gem.

THESE ALL MY LOVELY STALLIONS!

Ain't he ravishing?

He takes me places in exchange for sugar cubes.

Giddy-Up! *cracks whip on a defenseless firm buttock*

He's all cosy in his new stable with lots of soft hay to bounce on.

Meet Stallion Bond. Such a gorgeous stud.

Save the best for the last... a Unicorn-play! Such a sexy stud.

Description:

London
1907, twenty years into the zombie Plague

Reuben is a baker living in the slums of London, sharing a room with his father and an extended family of cockroaches. Poor, uneducated, and repressing all his sexual desires, he leads a life of misery, only sometimes sprinkled with gin and a rough tumble in a filthy back alley.

But when he is abducted into Bylondon to be the slave of a wealthy crime family member named Erik Dal, his values are put to the test. His new master is obsessed with all things equestrian, and Reuben soon learns that if he obeys and performs well as Erik's horse, he might just get everything he yearns for: pampering, foods he never even dreamed of, and shameless sex with a demonically handsome young man in leather riding boots.

As Copper, Erik's treasured dun stallion, Reuben must submit to his new master's obscene fancy of possessing another man completely. That is, if he yearns for treats and not the lick of a riding crop. Fake tails, harnesses, and a new haircut to his ginger mane help Reuben transform into Copper, but the fear of losing his dignity in the eyes of society might just prove to be a bigger restraint than any bit, bridle, or handcuffs.

All that for the small price of his freedom. Though at times, Reuben feels it's his soul that Erik is after instead.

[HIGHLY RECOMMENDED] Hoshi no Yakata by Maia Tori (BDSM Manga)

5 STARS and more for the Orgasmic Awesomeness

This is one of those unforgettable ones for me. Imho, it's the best BDSM manga so far. The images are nosebleed inducive. Sexy like hell. Highly kinky too.

Though be warned that this is HARDCORE and might scare those who are faint-of-heart.

What we get to drool about in this manga:
★ ~ Sexy half clothed men in various leather get-ups. Imagine leather bar, body harnesses, whips, cat-O
★ ~ Chastity belt/implements
★ ~ Whipping/Flogging/Canning
★ ~ Candle wax torture
★ ~ Piercing (on page)- every sensitive spot imaginable or unimaginable.... OUCH
★ ~ Sex Slave Training
★ ~ Various Form of Restraints/Bondage (it was so imaginative - I love it!)
★ ~ Various Gags (not the funny kind)
★ ~ BDSM Dungeons
★ ~ Cages for humans
★ ~ Body Branding
★ ~ Shibari/Japanese Rope Bondage
★ ~ Coffin/Boxed-up/Confined in box/Storage
★ ~ Water Torture
★ ~ Sensory Deprivation
★ ~ Breath-play
★ ~ Various Sex Toys - Anal plugs, didoes etc

OH NOES! WHAT ELSE HAVE I FORGOTTEN??? The list is too long already. I could only say that it's all the above and many more that got my adrenaline pumping hard due to its intensity. Pervy me has read and reread it countless times already and planing for more sweet time with it still.

Here's a tamer-safe-enough-to-post-here picture on one of the Sensory Deprivation used on the slaves:

[Poor thing was left hanging in a room like tat for quite some time. They use a catheter on him too]

[REVIEW] Crazy by Cari Waites

Recommended by: ARC extended to me by the author
Recommended for: True Dark Erotica fans
Read from November 17 to 18, 2013 — I own a copy

Braingasmic 5 Stars!

Braingasm feels so divine. It's SO gud, I shivers with delight.

The story leads you into a dreamscape of an unstable mind, you will never really know which is real and which is just a figment of a confounded mind.

The author has the ability to draw her readers into her character's surrounding and make them feel what they felt. Her words are focused and never excessive, just the right amount to nudge us along.

I could really feel the sense of angst and powerlessness displayed by Drew the protagonist, it gave me such thrills and lovely goosebumps. Makes my heart squeeze with just the right amount of empathy not interfering with my deviant side wishing for more distressing situations for Drew.

If rape and suicide is a trigger for you, be forewarned then. The suicide attempt scene was almost poetic the way it was presented. On the other hand, the rape scene was quite intense and real. Made me wanted to gouge the perpetrator's eyes out, step on it, squish it to pulp.

In short, this book is DEFINITELY for me. Half the time while reading it, I was fretting over when that kinky straitjacket on that cover is going to ever come into play or will it not be at all? Gasp, I would have been devastated if the latter was the case. You see, I have an obsession with bondage, the stricter it is the better it was for me. I was saved from my impending depression when Ms. Waites delivers a highly stimulating straitjacket bondage sex scene combine with a sling harness to boot! Oh, how I love her.

So okay with the kinky stuff, the next point which appeals to me was the Asylum/Mental hospital setting which incidentally was another fascination of mine too.

Hence, how could I not love this book? It has such an appealing and potent combination with just the right formulation for me:

[Asylum] + [Straitjacket] + [Drugging] + [Noncon/Dubcon] + [Sinister Doctor] = Lovely amount of Angst and Powerlessness
- End Result: a one way ticket to Cloud9 forever

Actually, what further cemented a 5 stars rating was the ending. It was non-stereotypical as it dares to be different yet staying true to the story and its theme.

Ms. Waites has once again delivered another memorable piece of dark erotica. Her previous work, Gamble Everything was also a fine example of quality dark erotica. To me, Ms. Waites has successfully captured the essence of dark erotica; It's arousing yet so wrong on many levels.

It is rare to find good dark erotica that stays true to its theme. Most would just plaster on a HEA/HFN no matter how unnatural it was for the story and worst off, some turned downright fluffy at the end! There are also those with the misconception that being dark and erotic means torture porn all the way. I find it hard to be aroused when the other party isn't the least bit enjoying it that's why I find forced seduction to be the best balance.

If you love dark, all-shades-of-wrong kind of noncon cum borderline dubcon stories, this is for you.

They said I was crazy. I said they were crazy. They outvoted me.

Drew thinks he isn't crazy just outvoted by those around him even his own parents. I'll let you be the judge of it.

So gonna eat this up and savor every moment of it.

This is going to be a good kinky ride. The ultimate fantasy comes true.

I hope for ample restrains in this book - the naughty kinds. Already loving that straitjacket on the cover.

Since loved this author's first work, Gamble Everything to bits. I am pretty sure this one would go on my favorites shelf as well given that I really like her writing style.

[MANGA REVIEW] The Prince of Tennis (Tennis no Ouji-sama) by Takeshi Konomi

The Prince of Tennis, Vol. 1The Prince of Tennis, Vol. 1 by Takeshi Konomi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Recommended for: those who enjoyed intense battle-outs akin to Bleach of Tite Kubo.
Read from October 06 to 08, 2013, read count: 1

This is a review for all 42 volumes of Tennis no Ouji-sama manga series

4.5 Stars for the adrenaline pumping goodness!

I totally enjoyed the feel-good adrenalin rush this series gave me. So high!

What I love most about this manga is the passionate drive to win and excel shown by most of the characters especially the protagonist. Even the antagonists has such intense fighting spirit too. It totally showcase the spirit of sportsmanship. Apart from this I am also fascinated with the tactical aspect of this game. I didn't know tennis needs that much brain power and a good poker face to win. I had so much fun watching the players trying to outsmart each other and analyzing their opponent's moves then try hard to counter it just like in a chess game.

In a way Echizen Ryoma is like a wild card for the Seigaku Tennis Team. It was such pleasure watching Echizen's journey from a rookie tennis player to an awe inspiring national tennis player. Although he is small in stature and only a first year in his new school as a transfer student from America, he speedily earned the respect from his seniors (sempais) for his unshakeable tenacity towards being the best tennis player. He just does not have the word 'defeat' in his dictionary nor would he take a beating in tennis laying down. To him all the talented players and challengers out there are just 'stepping-stones' for him. Yes he is a cocky one but I love him all the more for it, for I admire his strength in mind, spirit and body. He is the embodiment of a true athletic. By the way he is just 12 years old kid and like his father Echizen Nanjirou, he's a prodigy in the tennis world.

Echizen's favorite phrase: Mada Mada Dane

(this is the English version of Mada Mada Dane. Sometimes he would quote it in English)

This is how others sees him (others describing Echizen):

*Sanpaku gan:- check out this phrase at the bottom of this review. It's Echizen's trademark look he would give to his challenger. Basically it's an intense glare with much smugness in it.

Echizen's bravery and never-say-die attitude made me a very proud fan of his. He might just be a chibi (shorty twink) in others eyes, to me he is manlier than any beefy muscly guys out there.

With all my fangirling about this manga one might think that I am naturally a sports fan which is quite the opposite of the truth really. I am not a sports person at all. Most of the time whenever lay eyes on any sports on the TV screen of anywhere else, I don't even know what those players on the field are doing. Clueless really. That's why I was surprised that I got hooked on Prince of Tennis after watching its anime adaptation and now reading it's manga series and loving it just as much. The anime stayed true to the manga's storyline really. In fact, I couldn't find any deflection from it at all. Both the manga and the anime got my adrenaline pumping just as hard. That only means Konomi sensei is really talented at creating not only a fantastic storyline but also very skillful at rendering the action scenes too. Not many people have that kind of skills to bring forth so much excitement in their readers for non moving pictures story-telling especially of the action genre.

Although please be informed that realism is not the aim of this manga instead it's best to take it as a fantasy-styled shounen sports manga. As the form of tennis played here could evolve in stages very much like those supernatural power showed in the famous Bleach manga by Tite Kubo. Then again, I do believe this is the very essence of what makes this manga so well received. Furthermore, I beg to differ from those who said the characters are all one dimensional and static because to me they all; especially the leading characters matured and evolved as they battle onwards to be the National Champions. Along the way they overcome their weaknesses, learned to be a better friend and team members, giving strong support to each others and also making news friends even from the oppositional teams.

I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this manga to everyone even to those who think they wouldn't enjoy it due to lack of sports enthusiasm. The perfect team spirit successfully depicted in this series is well worth your attention and time.

*Sanpaku gan (三白眼) or Sanpaku (三白) is originated from a Chinese term, as well as a Japanese term means “three whites” and is generally referred to in English as "Sanpaku eyes". The term refers to the iris being rather small, so that it only covers about two-thirds or less of the vertical axis of the eye; e.g. delineate an eye into four portions; the iris would only occupy one portion of the divided four sections; thus leaving the other three in white, hence "three whites". [REVIEW] Gamble Everything by Cari Waites

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Recommended for: those who enjoy depraved mindfucks.
Read from August 07 to 12, 2013 — I own a copy, read count: 1

5 full stars cos I floated in subspace

I blame my swollen bottom lip on this piece of mindfuck extraordinaire. It had me nibbling on my lip every so often trying to distract myself from the fierce intensity of the mind-blowing scenes and ocean of feels it invoke.

Overall, the story has a nice flow to it and promotes smooth reading experience. The characters stays in character, how nice is that. I love all the mindfucking Archer did to poor Danny aka Daniel aka Baby-boy. Archer's method of unmaking Danny to create Daniel could give the best psychologist a run for their money.

Archer plays Danny's body and mind like a fine tuned piece of musical instrument. He's so good he makes Danny aches for more even though he was repulsed by it. Archer had effectively turned Danny into Daniel, his affectionate baby-boy who finds joy in his boy-pussy especially when his daddy plays with it.

It was utmost fascinating and arousing to watch the training and reconditioning of Danny's mind. All those fierce canings and the after-cares by Archer was exquisite and most effective in molding Danny's mind to become Daniel. This part of the story kind of reminds me of Home Trained For You by Selim whereby the protagonist's identity was forcefully ripped away to be replaced by an ideal of his captor's choice by way of harsh punishments and some gentler coaxing of soft praises and rewards. Should anyone has similar stories like these please do rec it to me for I have deep fascination with how a mind could bend to another's will the right amount of inner and outer conditioning.

At first I had thought that the author is going for D.I.D (Dissociative Identity Disorder)* and that this is what Archer is aiming at when he was training Danny to become his ideal boy. Then, this theory was dispelled when that blows-me-away ending wraps everything up nice and tight. I was left in a daze of what had just took place and was in much awe to be able think clearly. I even had to reread that scene to shake off my state of shock. *Note: Home Trained For You by Selim has D.I.D - which is why I find it most engrossing.

Whatcha gonna get from this book (just to name a few):
  • Hurt-comfort - it is so good it will make your body purrs.
  • Orgasm denial - a caged cock is frustratingly arousing to the readers as well. It was utterly blissful whenever Danny gets to release his sexual tension via his boy-pussy or during rare occasions when he was rewarded a 'release' for good behavior *mind floods with endorphin*.
  • Enema - 'The Chair' only makes it all the more erotic - All that futile struggling and going no way. *Sighs contently*
  • Sounding - The Chair + Teddy = delightful combination to up the eroticism. Soon, Daniel boy was stuffed and fucked.
  • Fisting - in 'The Chair' of course! Poor Daniel suffers so beautifully for his daddy. Teddy da Bear was there to hold his hands all the way too.
  • Multiple Partners - Sharing is caring?
  • Toys - oh, don't forget the toys. A good boy must have toys - in this case, an ever growing butt plug to seal the deal.
  • Bondage - usually minor ones like wrist cuff but upped a few notch when he's in 'The Chair'.
  • Age-play - top to toe, down to every details - little boy's cartoon T-Shirts, PJs, Boxer briefs with the flap at the back, Shorts, bedroom full of robots, aeroplanes, spaceships, moon and bean bag plus many more kiddo stuff to content with. Just missing the diapers (bummer that).
  • Daddy-kink - when you have age-play in M/M of course it must go hand in hand with a Daddy in tow. This daddy has a real firm hands. His dominant controlling ways are very sexy.
He treats me like a child, and I don’t mean that in some whiny teenage way. I mean he literally treats me like a child. I wear kids’ clothes. I sleep in a bedroom with a robot poster on the wall, a beanbag on the floor, and coloring-in books on the shelves. I eat cereal for breakfast and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch.
At night, he tucks me in.
Then fucks me.
I call him Daddy.
He calls me his baby boy
.
I know this excerpt/quote sounds crazy to some of you and you might think that this is just another one of those plotless PWP smut-galore. All I could say is that, wait till it blows you to smithereens. I dare you to get your mindfuck dosage here.

Ahh, what a ride this was. I was positively tripping over all those free flowing unrestrained angst. I am both drowning and floating in it. Loving every bit of this feeling and savoring every moment of it. When Daniel floats in subspace, I find myself floating along.

Once again I am going to say, I strongly recommend this book to those who could enjoy mindfucks even if it is on the depraved side of things. Imho, this is THE finest mind-bending erotica!

NOTE: I would advise those who MUST have Safe Words and such in their D/S stories to turn away from this book right now. The rest of you, please step this way and have fun in this succulent piece of fantasy.

My god, this is the BIGGEST mind fuckery EVER! I am still trying to catch my breath now. What an ending. So wrong yet so right.

I've been totally mindfucked and loved every moment and milliseconds of it. Such an intense book this was. Many would have thought that this is just one of those plotless smut-galore. Wait till it blows you AWAY to smithereens. Then you will learn to NEVER EVER judge a book by its cover again.

I got what I wanted from the book. In fact, it gave me more than what I expected from it. So much more that it broke my emotional dam and I am drowning in it yet savoring every minute of that feeling. I am floating.

I strongly recommend this to those who enjoyed mind fucks. This is THE finest!

I will try to review properly once I get my head back on straight.

[REVIEW] Tarantula by Thierry Jonquet

Tarantula
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Recommended for: those who could appreciate a good disturbing mind fuqking - crime and psychological thriller genre.
Read on June 23, 2013 — I own a copy, read count: 1

Please try to refrain from looking at my shelf tags for this book. Unless of course you don't mind spoiling this book before you could get to it. You have been adequately warned.

Rating: 4.5 stars

What a twisted book with a twisted ending to match. I was left aghast and reeling with mixed emotion after finishing it.

Be ready for a dark and twisted story driven by hate and fear. It all started with a crime of lust and selfish indulgence which lead to the destruction of an innocent young girl. But was that enough reason to seek justice in the most vile manner? And how far should it go before it's too much that it destroys you too?

The story was set in France and centers around Richard Lafargue a prominent plastic surgeon and his disturbing relationship with a beautiful mysterious young woman named Eve, whom Lafargue had under lock and key literally. She would only be released from her gilded cage whenever Lafargue felt like parading her around his high society social circle.

Although Lafargue seems to dote on her at times, buying her gifts and taking her out to lavish dinning, he would also subject her to perform unspeakable sexual acts with multiple partners just to debase her and enjoy her sufferings. On the surface it looks like Eve was nothing more than a pet or a toy to Lafargue but the reasons behind it was far more devious than it appears to be.

Lafargue is quite a manipulative and malicious character. Highly intelligent and dangerously cunning. The mental tortures he subjected Eve to was both ingenious and effective in molding her body and soul to his will. It was chilling to see him in action sometimes. He kept me wondering what was truly on his mind? Has he gone mad as Eve perceived him to be or is his hatred really that all consuming? How far could one go driven by hatred? When will it be enough to quench his thirst for justification?

I could understand Eve's confused state of mind whenever it comes to Lafargue as he was never truly constant especially in the beginning of their relationship. He would hurt her at one time and dotes on her the next. When Eve tries to lean on his tenderness, she would be promptly slapped away only to be comforted again when she slips into depression.

In my humble opinion, the writing was beautiful and refine albeit chilling and disturbing at the same time. I shudder often thinking of all those irreversible physical and psychological scarring on the victim. To be so forcefully changed forever. How could one forgave another for causing such grievous harm on them for whatever justification at all?

I am in total agreement with Mizuki Genshou's review that this is a tale of suffering of the body and soul, domination and submission, hurt and comfort, love and hate. An intriguing twisted relationship between predator and prey, prisoner and jailer.

I especially like this remark by Mizuki on her review, "I found it to be very bold and imaginative, even kind of sexy in a twisted way." I ditto that wholeheartedly although I am too not sure I would or should be tagging this book under my BDSM shelf.

I have already mentioned right at the beginning of this review that the ending has taken me by surprise and left me amazed in a shocked way as it wasn't what I have expected to happen at all. A thousand questions flooded my mind at once. How I wish I could discuss it with someone, anyone, just to get it off my chest. What motivates her decision towards the end? Why? I have a few speculations myself. Ahh... how I love it when a book does that to me, making me think and delve deeper into the story even after it ends. I would love to encounter other books of similar nature. This one was such a rare gem.

Both the book and the movie adaptation was unique in itself and are equally good. Each has its own set of storyline with the movie preserving only part of the premise of this story. What I love in the movie was not found in the book and vice versa. If you still have to know which I prefer best, I'll go with the book because it is inevitably more detailed in nature.

This story isn't going to leave my mind anytime soon as it has etched itself deep into my psyche. It was such a page turner for me that I have finished it in a day! As a slow reader, this is a record for me.

This book should thrill most DMCers.

Spoiler:
I would say, it's a rather warped HFN with possibility of a twisted romance as I do not feel the effect of Stockholm Syndrome here. Unless, it's an act of redemption that spur that unexpected choice at the end.
(Only click if you MUST really know before you could even consider reading this book. So please don't blame me if you spoil it for yourself. Hehe)
