[REVIEW] Pregnant with His Werewolf's Baby (Lone Wolf Pack, #1) by Anya Byrne

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Read from February 19 to 22, 2015 — I own a copy, read count: 1

There are good and bad parts. Enjoyed a portion and the rest makes me cringe - especially the sex scenes; I could hear birds chirping, see unicorns prancing in the meadow with a brilliant rainbow background.

Then there's the usual glossed over mpreg technicality where one does not and should even start asking where's the womb and god forbid NEVER should you voice your concern over the birth channel. Just lay back and relax. Everything is going to be A-ok. You are carrying a miracle anyways.

A couple of the guys all of the guys in the book deserves a skirt each with a pack of complimentary tissues to catch those hormonal tears - pregnant or not.

Overall, the book gave me the impression of reading an online fanfiction rather than an actual book.

[REVIEW] Tame a Wild Human by Kari Gregg

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Recommended for: M/M Erotica fans who enjoys depravity with their kinky reads.
Read from January 19 to 23, 2015 — I own a copy, read count: 1

Tame a Wild Human is an unreserved hardcore wolf gangbang great for the spank bank. Downright primal, lustful and depraved. An unapologetic rape fantasy. Know that this is pure erotica, one that aims to get you off not the type to melt your heart with sweet romance. To be clear, there is not a trace of romance within its pages, just sexy dominance and submission cum with plentiful servings of humiliation and degradation. Come on, the poor guy was pumped full of cum inside out I am surprised he didn't drown. But of course I am glad he didn't else I couldn't enjoy more of his debasement in the hands of those insatiable wolves who'd relentlessly drills his abused hole and mouth every wakeful moment.

Wyatt Redding, a 28 years old nice straight guy with a budding career as a lawyer in a good law firm was betrayed by his only family member and found himself bundled up then abandoned in the forest during the fullmoon to be a werewolf pack’s sex toy, a cumhole for the pack to slack their heat. Then this newly converted cumhole grown attached to the man who introduced him to the magic of his virginal prostate. That’s more or less the gist of the story. Do we really need a whole slew of information to get us off? Especially when knowing it is a short story aiming for sexual gratification. In TAWH's case, I’d say bravo for not wasting time nor paper on the world-building and going straight to the juicy and meaty part. Of course such an approach could only work if the sex is good and the writing is as good. TAWH has no problem pulling this stunt off effortlessly. I must thank Ms. Gregg for the lovely alone-time I get while soaking up TAWH. Another plus point for such a book is the flexibility for impromptu re-reads whenever one gets horny and alone as we don't need to read books the size of a phone directory just to enjoy some great self-lovin' sex.

It is unfortunate but unavoidable for this book to encounter censure from part of its readership. The issue arises not entirely due to the hardcore explicit sexual content rather it is a classical case of 'the wrong book for the wrong reader'. Maybe it is due the book cover, TAWH was easily mistaken as one of those shifters romance which is NOT what it is at all! TAWH is out-and-out an erotica with heavy kink topped with non-consent, some dubious consent and explicit violence. In the hands of the right audience this book is a winner as it truly delivers what was promised without pulling any punches. Readers who are looking for some naughty fun with ample humiliation and degradation, master and pet dynamics with heavy handed dominance and submission would undoubtedly find TAWH to be a satisfying read. Those who hates romanticized rapes can rest assured that TAWH has none of it. The rapist remains as the rapist, the victim remains as the victim even-though there is the element of forced-seduction. Rather than romanticising the taboo relationship, the author uses a touch of mind-control with a bit of blood voodoo. I know, I know, it's not natural for a straight boy to suddenly be all willing to submit and be the fuck bitch of another man but hey he never did have a choice - even right down till the end. Those wolves never see humans as their equal, humans are just part of their possession. The wolves never cared or would ever care about the inferior humans. How is that a complex thing to understand?

For this book the most important element to measure is the heat level. I'd say the sex is scorching hot especially so in the beginning of the story when the gangbanging started. That slow fucking was E-RO-TIC like hell. I could almost feel it in my own ass. My body was tingling all over reading that intense fuck scene. Loved that bit of sensory deprivation with the blindfold. I do have to confess that once Wyatt submitted even not exactly by choice, my enjoyment of the sex waned as I liked it more when there's resistance, be it physically or psychologically. That of course is all personal preference.

[REVIEW] Taken (Dragon's Egg #1) by Rennie Leigh

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Recommended for: Mpreg fans
Read from December 21 to 25, 2014 — I own a copy, read count: 1

The generic storyline didn't stop me from liking it and I did enjoyed its premise quite a bit since it involves male pregnancy my all-time favorite theme. And the the dragon's reproductive system reminds me of another mpreg book called 'Acquainted with the Night' due to its almost similar impregnation technique of which by the way is like watching a birthing scene. Yet at the same time it made me wish for a prostate of my own.

I am happy that this time around the shifters involved aren't those overexposed furry kinds but of the scaly variety instead. While this is a shifters mating story whereby insta-love is common place like almost a given thing it is certainly refreshing to find the couple being rather rational with the attraction and deals with it realistically instead of tearing at each others clothes and sticking it in at the first opportunity. Much as I appreciate the slow burn romance I did also lament the long wait for some carnal action to take place. Almost half of the book was spent on courtship.

Although the book comes along with the BDSM tag, it was more like a garnishing on the side than anything substantial. The author was so very careful handling that extra seasoning that vanilla readers would not have problem reading it.

I find Sebastian a relatively likable character. Most of the humor comes from his cute awkwardness and straightforward personality. As for Gavin his alpha mate, his personality puzzles me sometimes. He lack the presence of an authoritative figure which he is supposed to be since he is a Dragon Lord with tons of underlings. He is too weak-willed to be a good leader.

While the story is considerably engaging the character's personality isn't very inconsistent. It's harder to connect with them when they are acting like they have multiple personalities when that's not supposed to be the case. The pacing needs a bit of fine tuning. And there is also some repetitions, typos as well as some plot-holes. Things like these isn't something I would expect from a non-indie published book. The publisher's editors should have polished all these rough edges before releasing the book.

Despite the hiccups I am still game on continuing the series as I am hoping for more breeding and impregnation scenes. An actual birth scene would be added bonus. I doubt Sebastian would be in the next book since series like this usually would leap onto different sets of couples for each installments. The most we could hope for was for Sebastian and Gavin to make more cameo appearances in future books within the series. I would miss seeing a very pregnant Sebastian being pampered by his overprotective mate.

This could have been a 4 stars but I would have to stick with a 3 stars for now.

[REVIEW] The Glaring (Werecat #2) by Andrew J. Peters

My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Read from November 25 to 29, 2014 — I own a copy, read count: 1

Well the premise is still as intriguing as the first book. But too bad I need characters with rationality to make it work unless I am only reading my books superficially or said character is mentally challenged. Unfortunately I am a rather critical reader. It's not unreasonable to demand some standard for books I spent money and time on.

The romance has certainly taken a back seat in this installment and I am not even sure if this book could be called gay erotica or even gay romance. I am rather surprised to find that the anticipated sex scene between the new couple in this book was censored. Huh? Have I been reading a YA all along? Or have this series taken a sudden detour from blood and pain X-rate worthy sex since book one to a PG-13 now?

[REVIEW] Werecat: The Rearing (Werecat #1) by Andrew J. Peters

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Read from November 02 to 09, 2014 — I own a copy, read count: 1

From day one Jacks met Benoit, the mysterious stranger was way creepy. Benoit was like a walking time bomb. Yet Jacks was curiously attracted to this imperious man with piercing green eyes that seems to dare him to stick around longer to make sense of this new feelings the guy invoke within him. They both seem to get on well enough and the sex was absolutely invigorating. Just when things are going swell, Jacks found himself on a crossroads situation when his summer vacation days was winding down and he needs to get back to college to finish his final semester. Benoit had given him an ultimatum; stay with him forever or leave and never see each other again. Was the amazing sex worth it? Did he really love Benoit enough to sacrifice his future for a guy he barely knew?

I liked the mysterious atmosphere, the dark undertone surrounding the story and it's non-traditional approach to a shifters story. Apart from that the werecat shifters truly display cat-like qualities in their behavior and personality. Cats are prideful, predatory and territorial. These traits are wonderfully portrayed in the werecat shifter. I also enjoyed the primal and animalistic qualities the story has.

So here comes the not so great parts. I found that the constant flashbacks disrupts the flow and tension of the story. I am don't mind stories that employs flashbacks but excessive usage of it is not a good sign especially when the last thing you ever wanted was for the reader to cool down after building up the story's intensity and pace. It's like fishing, you don't slacken the string once you got em on the hook. I felt like someone just interrupted the best part of a juicy story I was so engrossed on. Not one time but repetitively. Bummer right?

There's also the issue with weak execution of character's motivation which would abruptly yank me out of the story. I felt the need to question why the character would perform irrational or contradictory actions when there isn't sufficient motivation for it. Last but not least, was that some part of the plot defies logic so much so that it's rather jarring.

This story does have it's potential despite the shortcomings. I would still continue with the series since I have already bought book 2 and 3 in advance.

Overall, love the premise and descriptive writing even-though wonky execution fucked it up quite a bit.

[REVIEW] The Archers of Kynthos by K.M. Harty

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Recommended to Kynthos-the-Archer by: My Own Story Prompt at M/M Romance Group at GR
Read from August 09 to 17, 2014 — I own a copy, read count: 1

My name is emblazoned on this book and it's my first story prompt. How cool is that?

This story is based on my first ever story prompt. I finally had the courage to try writing one this year for Love's Landscapes the M/M Romance Group's yearly story prompt and writing event where both readers and writers come together creating countless free stories for the benefit of M/M fans.

Since I am those extra deviant type, I had to try my luck fishing for a story that blends two taboo erotica themes together; Tentacle Sex + Mpreg. In my case, it's the best of both worlds for me. Truthfully I have been waiting around for such a story to happen yet I couldn't find any so far. I knew I had to take take matters into own hands for the birth of such sexual boundaries pushing story and hope for it to be a catalyst to bring forth more of such stories in future.

THIS IS MY PROMPT PICTURE:
Artist: Rune Olsen
Sculpture Title: For Everything I Long to Do

I have hidden my prompt under this spoiler tag for the benefit of shortening the lenght of this review. (This is NOT A SPOILER. So click click click):
(view spoiler)

HERE'S MY FEEDBACK ON THE STORY:
I am going to draw a list here on the important parts.
~ Captivity/Confinement: All is well here other than why on earth did they need to be so abusive to the protagonist since he is someone the captor deemed as utmost importance and worth? Shouldn't he be pampered and kept safe for their later depraved usage?
~ Forced Breeding/Impregnation: Rough. Plain torture. There wasn't much details on the impregnation process just rough painful fucking.
~ Tentacle Sex: Uh oh, it didn't trigger my happy button here. Zero erection. Being a tentacles sex fan, getting aroused by those rapey perverted tentacles is a MUST. It's the climax of reading tentacles erotica. Sadly this was more of a horrific torture event than an arousing encounter. Besides I was really hoping for some forced orgasm action especially those forced multiple orgasm. It's unfortunate the tentacle sex here was used as a torture tool instead. Obviously it's a turn-off for tentacle sex fans since we would naturally look for the sensual and erotic appeal of tentacle sex.
Spoiler:
It was quite disappointing that the tentacles creature did not make any other appearances after that rape scene which was in the early chapter. And there's no longer any mention of it throughout the story. It serves merely as tool to produce that singular tentacle sex scene. Yet I did see it as a blessing as the poor MC need not suffer anymore excruciating sex. I would sing a different tune if that tentacle sex was orgasmic though.
~ Male Pregnancy on troubled waters: Love the way the MC struggles to adapt with his pregnancy; trying to come to term with his bizarre situation. Watching his coping mechanism alienates him from the baby in his womb. The explanation on how the pregnancy could occur was a bit vague but I do appreciate it was at least there.
~ Birth Scene: On-page birth scene just as I wish for.
Spoiler:
But FUCK. It's a freaking natural birth! Not that I don't appreciate it. It's just that I couldn't figure out how exactly the MC's plumbing works now? I've read Mpreg story with natural birth before but at least it was made possible with scientific manipulation and the mechanism was explained. Thing is, this story had left this important part out. So... does the MC even take a shit now? O.o
~ Forced Seduction & Forced Marriage: Not bad, I kinda enjoy the angst here. This is where the story rack up points from me.

Why 4 stars then? Well, irregardless of those niggling issues I still find this story to be engaging and interesting. Especially enjoyed the whole drama between the protagonist and his controlling borderline psychotic lover plus his denial about the whole pregnancy thing kept me reading and wanting more.

I am happy to say that K.M. Harty make it a point to deliver everything I've listed on my story prompt and more. For that, I am deeply grateful and thankful for her effort.

Hey, I just found another this other picture which has the view of what's happening at the other end.

Description:
He was being held down, unable to control the thing that was now on top of him. He didn’t know how many arms, legs or tentacles this thing had, but they were all over him, and in him. With everything that was happening around him, all he was able to do was take what the monster was doing to him. Why they were doing this to him he had no idea, but all he could hope for at this point was death.

This story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group's "Love’s Landscapes" event. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story.

Dear Author,
He has been down here for a couple of days already; he could tell by the streams of lights through the small openings high up surrounding the edges of the high wall. At first he thought it would be stuffy and hot, curiously it was rather cold. It must be the damp packed-earth wall around him. The wall was at least several metres high. Even so, that was not the only deterrence stopping him from leaving this prison he had been unceremoniously dumped into. He knew that he would be a permanent fixture here unless someone saw fit to release him from the sturdy chain attached to the iron collar resting on his neck.

They would come in two or three persons, at fixed intervals each day, to provide him with sustenance and attend to his personal grooming. He had no idea why they were fastidious about his cleanliness and health. He couldn’t shake off the ominous feeling that he was being fattened up like a lamb before a sacrifice.

Photo Description:
A statue, that looks as if it is floating in water, of a man with an octopus surrounding the lower half of his body. The man appears to be fighting it off and in pain.

[MANGA REVIEW] Hikaru no Go, Vol. 23: Endgame by Yumi Hotta

My rating: 1 of 5 stars
Read on September 25, 2014

Frustrating and Unsatisfying manga. I've been DUPED.

I have never before felt so UNSATISFIED with a manga that I have been fairly enjoying. This manga managed to capture my attention eventhough I have zero knowledge about the boardgame it was centralised around. Yet it is also one to let me down terribly.

I felt cheated since I couldn't even have a lick at that dangling carrot the mangaka had used throughout the story to command her reader's interest. Reading this manga has ZERO rewards since characters you root for wouldn't get the prize they rightfully deserved. And the long promised showdowns between important characters did not materialize. What further can I say? I felt duped. It's like telling the readers that hardwork is bullshit and unrewarding. Plus, geniuses can for fuck off!

[MANGA REVIEW] Hikaru No Go (Book 15) [ ヒカルの碁 15、さよなら] ] by Yumi Hotta

My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Read from September 23 to 24, 2014, read count: 1

2 Stars because I felt sad for Sai. What happened in book 15 is very unfair to him. It was like he is just a tool, a stepping stone to be discarded when no longer needed. Where is the reward? After waiting for a millennia and this is the answer?

I am glad Hikaru is in a slump now. He should be, as it serves him right since he dared to forget who brought him into the Go world in the first place, tutoring him and encouraging him all the way. I do agree that Akira could be the catalyst to rev up Hikaru's passion to succeed in the world of Go but without Sai guiding him Hikaru could not have attain such heights of success in such a short time.

Actually part of why I am reading this manga after I've finished with its Anime version was a tiny hope that the story in the manga would answer Sai's unresolved wish since the manga does continues where the Anime had left off. The other reason was simply because I am missing Sai very much.

[MANGA REVIEW] Wild Kiss by Hisaya Nakajo

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Since it was short, the plots are rushed. At first I thought it was a Yaoi but it was actually a shonen-ai. Artwise, it was okay but nothing impressive.

By the way, Hisaya Nakajo is also the mangaka of Hana Kimi or Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (For You in Full Blossom) the famous shoujo manga series.

~ This full color spread artwork is pretty nice tho. This is what caught my attention and interest. I do love cute and small-size ukes.

[WANT-TO-READ] Beasts Inside: Potency by A. A. Samuel

I know the blurb was one of those what-the-fuck types. But never say never right?

I am certainly curious about that anthropomorphic red panda and what the hell is a romantic werewolf tentacle violence????

Truthfully I have never read any books with anthropomorphic characters before and I wonder how it works out in a M/M erotica.

So yeah, I am not sure if furries works well for me. But take a look at this dude below, he is kinda cool right?
He reminds me of Guin of Guin Saga, a fantasy novel series by a Japanese author, Kaoru Kurimoto.

[REVIEW] A Brac Pack Crazy Family Christmas (Brac Pack, #24) by Lynn Hagen

A Brac Pack Crazy Family Christmas (Brac Pack, #24)
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Read from April 08 to 15, 2014 — I own a copy, read count: 1

This gets a 3 stars from me despite feeling like I am drowning in orgies as I really enjoyed that hilarious ad-libbed nativity play set-up by that 'pot-smoking' alpha, Maverick. Snorts. Who would thought of that cool entrance by the three wise men?

This series have a bit of daddy-kink to it since the shifters are all large alpha males with smallish mates. The mates behaves like little kids around the wolves. And the wolves would chastise them like how a daddy would, then takes control and fawn over them like love sick puppies.

I did liked such dynamics as I have a thing for large males dominating over smaller males. In fact, there are parts in here where the smaller mates taking their wolves was a turn off for me.

I bet the Den smells like sex everyday. These wolves sure provides great business for the Brac Town's laundry services. The wolves and mates kept jumping each other at every opportunity. It was especially true with this book. In view of the fact that they are all doing it under the very same roof, it is almost like an orgy.

In A Brac Pack Crazy Family Christmas, the mates are behaving quite well and the one creating unrest and taking up the prankster role this time was an outsider instead Cecil of the famous uncontrollable bratty mate. This mysterious prankster's mischievous games nearly drove the mates crazy!

Overall it was entertaining in some parts but I was mainly bored due to the oversexing. Besides that, Ms. Hagen's effort to feature all of the Brac pack wolves with their respective mates in one book was a little tiresome to read because it felt repetitive with the recycling of plots for each pair. I also didn't like the ending where a dwarf turns into a handsome prince out of a sudden.

[REVIEW] The Pet Whisperer by liliaeth

The Pet Whisperer

My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Read from April 05 to 08, 2014 — I own a copy, read count: 1

What a Horrifying and Disturbing Story! I have been forcefully defiled. Mind Raped!

I admit it does have some entertainment value, but the munching on humans killed me. I mean I love the angst and liked the wicked pet training, but.... PLEASE! DO NOT EAT PEOPLE! Argh!

Humans as main course on the dining table of Gods. *dying* Gods hunting humans as food, even the children aren't safe. *dies in agony* Keeping humans as livestock for their juicy meat. *am so dead* Some of luckier ones are kept as household slaves, and the luckiest are those pretty ones which the Gods kept as eye-candies aka pets. The pets aren't exactly safe from ending up on the table as well. Da fuq!

How I wish this story could just focus on the pet training and leave out the grisly stuff. Each time I think of it... I.... *pukes everywhere* The slaughter of innocents both angers and sickens me so much I could feel my soul burning at the atrocities happening at every turn of the story. The author is sure brave and daring but too over-the-top with the horror aspect, it squicked me out even knowing she might be trying to deliver her message on animal abuse and to encourage vegetarianism.

The thing is, this story is utterly disturbing and horrifying as the amount of outright cannibalism overshadowed the pet training aspect eventhough petplay should be the main focus of this story as per suggested by its title and blurb. I kept on reading this morbid tale because I couldn't stop until I find out what would happen to Dean at the end.

WARNING: You really can't unseen what you have seen. For sure this is NOT for the faint-of-heart unless you are into gore and cannibalism. Beware of being eaten alive while kicking and screaming even your soul aren't spared. If you could curb your curiosity, I would advice you to stay away from this. The blurb didn't have any warning on the extreme cannibalism. I did blame myself for not checking out the story tags throughly before diving into it.

I am pretty sure that title and blurb would potentially leads unsuspecting readers who are looking forward to some petplay fun with added bonus of the famous Castiel-Dean pairing into the darkest void of evil and then gets drown in human misery so great one would felt scarred for life; speaking from the view of a traumatized reader. I have no way out now, it's too late for me. Go safe yourself!

Da fuq I've just read. @_@;
I need fluff pronto!

THE RATING
I am giving this a 2 stars not entirely because of the disturbing nature of the in-depth cannibalism, it is also due to the quality of the writing itself. There are parts where the plots fails and the characters has OOC moments here and there. I am also deducting points for not staying focus on the promised petplay theme. To be clear, I did appreciate the parts on the pet training and the melding of multiple mythologies with modern religion.

To put it in other words, this story is as entertaining as an intense nightmare you fought to wake up from.

[REVIEW] Blood Honey by Sakyou Yozakura

Blood HoneyBlood Honey by Sakyou Yozakura
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Recommended for: NO ONE.
Read on March 27, 2014, read count: 1

Blood Honey is just like a sugar fix. Nothing worth remembering. And that lame ending blew whatever minor redeemable features to smithereens. Tsk... tsk... tsk.

The sex scene wasn't even sexy, it felt pasted on. And I hate that trailing drool sticking onto the characters' mouth whenever they kiss. Ewwww... just ewww. How is that sexy? Having long strain of drool like a bridge between their panting mouth. :&

There is zero mean in this one. It was funny here and there but even that didn't pack enough punch. Just a book without soul and empty of meaning or value.

The artwork was unrefined, nothing to talk about really. Even the character's body proportion was out.

[REVIEW] Hotel of Lost Souls (The Lost Humanity #1) by H.S. Kallinger

Hotel of Lost Souls

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Read from March 05 to 10, 2014 — I own a copy, read count: 1

Strong presence of Capture-bonding/Stockholm Syndrome with a Unique Menage Romance

Hotel of Lost Souls is the first book in The Lost Humanity series. It is a story about the survival and bonding of three early 20s students during their captivity as the blood and sex slaves of a master vampire. The dynamics they form intrigues me so much I am compelled to continue reading the story although finding the pace draggy due to excessive mundane activities described in painful details. I guess this is one of the many pitfalls a new author tends to find difficult to avoid. Writing the right balance of details aren't an easy feat. Readers would scorn those with too little details as well as those that had too much in it. That's where practice and experience comes in as well as the ability to accept and listen to feedbacks, the positive ones as well as the negative ones. Life is a life-long learning experience after all. One would only excel if one could recognise and acknowledge their own weaknesses and not be afraid to change it.

Eventhough this book has a central vampirism theme it wasn't overly focused on it. We do still get snippets of their presence and background story every now and then, so no worries about that. The story is really all about the relationship between fellow captives and their kidnapper cum master cum owner. I am fascinated with the captives gradual progress in developing a strong bond with their captor in the form of Stockholm Syndrome. I am still unsure if what is between (view spoiler) It could well be the effect of falsehood their subconscious mind fashioned just to stay safe and pain free.

The Stockholm Syndrome is a psychological phenomenon I have always find to be utterly intriguing. It's the mysterious part of being human and how vulnerable we really are. When left in a hopeless situation and given the right incentive, one could bend to any extreme just to find that bit of comfort even when it was offered by your own abuser. These abused victims tends to find excuses for the abuser and would strongly believe whatever punishment on them are their of own fault and their abuser is only doing it for their own good out of love for them. The abused would usually choose to submit to the abuser because it felt safer and easier to do so than a confrontation. This isn't baseless guesswork on my part, I have been an abused victim before although not a very physical one but the damage to the soul is not something easy to erase or comprehend. I have lived and I have learned, the hard way. Please note that what I am saying here are only based on my personal experience therefore I am not implying it is the same for everyone. Do you know what is the saddest part? The saddest part was when the abuser didn't even know what was done to me was considered as abuse and I myself was too blind to see that.

I bet Lukas the captor in this story knows exactly what he is doing and trying to achieve. That whipping boy incident was a good proof of how he intents to condition his pets. Zack, Sarah and Jamie was confine in a gilded cage in the form of an upscale hotel complete with all the pampering amenities at their disposal in exchange of their freedom. Lukas would lavish them with expensive gifts and personal attention when they behave themselves. Bad behaviors are promptly nipped at the bud with effective physical punishments that also involves some manipulative mental persuasion of the importance of playing by the rules. Lukas is such a cunning one. Having lived for hundreds of years he should be smarter than most humans with the kind of experiences he had gone through.

Another point of interest was the unique menage and the sexual relationships between this group of youngsters and their master. This dynamic group consists of bisexuals and lesbians. So we get hetero, gay and lesbian sex in one swoop. That's pretty rare right? They even had an orgy with two guys and two girls enthusiastically going at each other. They were satisfyingly plugged by one another... uhmm except one the lesbian and the last guy behind the train of sexy sweaty bodies of course. Not enough penises to do all the plugging and thrusting considering the number of wanting holes we have here.

I think I have a love-hate thing going on with this book. I nearly DNF it due to the draggy pace. Yet there are parts that absorbs my attention and fueled my wish to know more. Like that unique foursome relationship and the captive cum abused victims mentality.

To sum up, the story is a promising one and the author has talent but needed further polishing to shine better. I did have issues with the story's delivery style but it could be down to personal preference I guess. More importantly, I am entertained enough to want to read the next installment of this series. In fact, I have already bought it and synced it to my reading device. I will be continuing these youngster's adventure and journey with their master in book two, Pet and three, Bridges soon.

[REVIEW] Cursed Blessings by Lynn Kelling

Cursed Blessings
Recommended for: Mpreg aficionados

Read from February 20 to 21, 2014 — I own a copy, read count: 1
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cursed Blessings has full frontal on-page male birth scene in vivid colors. So unlike many other mpreg books that usually safely employs an off-page birth scene (boo). To date I have only read one that has on-page birth scenes (yes in plural) and that was a quirky M/M scifi book called Acquainted with the Night by Tymber Dalton of which I adored to bits as it has everything my deviant little mind could ever ask for - (Check out my checklist here).

The difference between the two is that the birth scenes in Acquainted has an arousing aspect to it unlike this book plus it wasn't anything as intense or graphic as what that poor guy in this book has gone through. The birth here was very traumatic and somewhat gruesome. I really have to salute the protagonist for his balls of steel in his brave attempt to save a life and his remaining male pride knowing the macabre he has to face to achieving his goal. That tub scene is going to stay put in my mind and I shall replay it whenever I felt I need a bit of morbidity in my M/M books.

Nope. This IS NOT an erotica as I don't think what happened is meant to arouse someone unless that someone gets off on morbid stuff. I am not sure what it really is. What I know is that it contains bit of male romance and a shot of the paranormal forces. Whatever it is, I liked it. I liked the author's brave take on mpreg and it is really well written. The pregnancy and birth has a touch of realism in it although it IS an impossible feat for a male's body to perform unless he magically grew a womb, which isn't too far of a stretch here with the presence of paranormal elements in the story. I guess the author pulled it off successfully. I loved it and it left me wanting more.

I love this cover. So daring.

[REVIEW] Maverick's Mate [Brac Pack Manga Book 1] by Lynn Hagen

My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Read from February 11 to 13, 2014 — I own a copy, read count: 1

2 Stars for the Story Massacre and Mood Killing Effect

I am going to be very frank as usual. Here goes...

The artwork was substandard. It was unrefined and unprofessionally done - typeface too small, non-standardized font size plus bad choice of font type. Besides that, I have also caught a few typos. >_<

I have actually read the novel version of this story and happened to loved it. I have a soft spot for bratty mates with their growly domineering wolves. I am sad to say that this manga has marred the original story and everything I ever held dear in it.

Weak storyline presentation with appalling paneling skill made the story confusing and frustrating to read. On top of that, the dialogue was annoying - it was like kids speech pattern. Another thing that I hated most about it was the way parts of the story was recklessly chopped off which only further the confusion. New readers of this story would undoubtedly be lost and annoyed. I could still follow it all because I have read the novel version of it prior to tackling this manga adaptation.

What about the sex scenes? Well I... cringe a lot during the sex scenes. Nothing erotic or sexy about it. Errr there's much drool exchange too. Ugh.

Yes, I am very disappointed and wouldn't be recommending this manga to anyone especially the manga fans. I hope there will be vast improvement in the next installment of this series. For Lynn Hagen, I would add another star since I loved the original story of hers (not the mutilated version in this manga). I wish I could go beyond that but I am having a hard time finding redeeming features within its pages.

Honestly, I am grateful and happy that the author and publisher of this series has decided to produce a manga adaptation, yet I am disheartened by their selection of an inexperienced manga artist for such an important project. Not only would this compromise the project, it would also reflect badly upon the author's work.

A book cover comparison between the manga and the novel version:
I am quite fond of the novel cover. I liked how Cecil looked.

[REVIEW] I See The Devil by Cyma Rizwaan Khan

Recommended by: ARC from the author
Read from December 30, 2013 to January 07, 2014 — I own a copy

This is all about the Good vs Evil and who's side is the good side. It would force you to pick a side then make you question if you are really capable of true goodness. AND at the end of the story, you would definitely view Satan and the Angels with a different light.

The story revolves around Jeremy Pearce a mental hospital escapist and his meeting with Lucifer the famous fallen angel, the devil himself. The manipulative charms of the devil is very much like the siren call so it's understandable how Jeremy readily falls into the devil's plan to bring forth the Apocalypse. Jeremy was told he was an essential ingredient for Lucifer's grand design for humankind or we should call it the idealistic re-designing of humankind. Lucifer's offer was tempting enough that I caught myself fantasizing about it. It is something most would die for and here, Lucifer eagerly proffers it. Of course nothing in life comes for free especially for such a coveted prize. What are you willing to sacrifice? Best still, who's life are you willing to use as a trading chip to secure said prize?

What good would come out of following the devil? Jeremy was lead into committing various horrid deeds, some was willingly done while there are others not as eagerly carried out by him. This crazy journey with the devil has certainly changed Jeremy. For the better or for the worst? I'll leave that to you to make that judgment for yourself. Afterall this story is about making the right choices and for that we need to polish our judgment skill.

I did like some aspects of this book. Like how it would sometimes compel me to evaluate myself, makes me think a little deeper. Asides from that there are a number of quotes I liked and below is a quote which is simple yet forceful enough to remind us of that we have always forgotten to take good advantage of our mind power. We should really be a good slave driver when it comes with our mind. Make it work harder for us. Abuse it more and often. Make it yield to us in total submission!

Most of us does tend to underestimate the power of the mind and the marvel of the universe. In essence we are all a mass of energies, each with our own unique frequencies. I believe that our thoughts are very much like radio signals to the universe to select the channels we wanted. Fundamentally, we hold our own future because our thoughts brings us our future. Hence do be careful of what you wish for >:D

I enjoyed trying to figure out Lucifer and having him keeping me on my toes. He is such an elusive guy. A goal driven entity fearless in pursuing his ideal and always confident with himself. Like Jeremy, I couldn't take his word without a measure of doubt although it is very hard not to be swayed by his persuasiveness. He could be so sweet and nice when he wanted to be.

There is a point where I felt the book zaps all my happiness away and I am left moping in the dark. Also there are times when I felt like putting the book aside to stop it from further draining my energy. Asides that, the going was painfully slow for me in the beginning and I had to push myself a little to continue. Maybe too much preaching from the devil? The brainwashing is tiring me out. Lol. As for the horror aspect, I am curiously undisturbed although it wasn't lacking in the morbid department since this is a horror fiction.

I am also not liking how some plots doesn't smooth over well enough for me to eat it up. Besides that, at times Jeremy's idiotic moves frustrates me and jolts me out of the believe-zone. Lastly I am sorry to say the ending didn't worked for me. It was anti-climax and too simplistic after all that initial grand buildup. I see strings hanging and I am itching to tie it up like a pretty bow just to quench my thirst to know how some things would end. Sniffing and pouting a little, the ending left me dying in a desert alone and lonely, that's figuratively speaking of course. Maybe it's just me... just my over inquisitiveness to be blamed for feeling such a way. Everybody does have their own unique perception right. Okay, if anyone is pressing to know if this one ends with a sweet happily ever after... click the spoiler below.
Spoiler:
Yes, you are safe to proceed with this wonderfully dark book as you will certainly see the rainbows you wanted at the end of the tunnel. It may be a foggy one but it is a rainbow since the hero survived and gain much needed inner strengths he lacks of before his hellish journey. Safe to say it's a HFN.

To be clear, I am happy with the outcome for the protagonist, only disappointed the ending was too mild, nothing like the earth shattering ending I expected.
