[REVIEW] Sock it to Me, Santa! by Madison Parker

Recommended for: Just pick it up. It would do you whole lot of good.
Read from December 24 to 25, 2013 — I own a copy

This brought love and Christmas to me. Warms my heart and tickle my funny bone. Plastered a goofy grin on me.

Ryan's first word describing Jamie to his mom was, soft. That goofy grin of mine started right at that point onwards. Lol. Ryan wasn't exactly a perfect person, he is filled with insecurities and was a little too self absorbed to see things around him clearly. He should really thank Mrs. Keats his homeroom teacher for setting up that Secret Santa gift exchange challenge.

That event did a hell lot of good drawing Ryan out of his protective shell, helping him to look deeper than the skin and also to let his true self shine. I'll say, Jamie brought out the best in Ryan and of course Ryan's loving understanding mom must be credited as well for the undying support she gave.

The author did great with Ryan's characterization, he is very much a believable teenager trying to find his own footing in life, was troubled by his sexuality and being too overly sensitive to public judgment. Although I didn't get to know Jamie as much due to the fact that the story was entirely in Ryan's POV, but he still managed to endear himself to me. Jamie might look effeminate and soft as everyone including how Ryan first perceived him yet he is stronger than anyone even the bullies and Ryan. This is because he stand tall and proud of who he is. He acknowledges his true self and wouldn't hide like Ryan did just to fit in. At least he isn't living a lie and I admire his courage and sense of self-value to stand firm against unjust negativity directed at him daily. He is beautiful inside out. He shines, and this is what attracted Ryan to him.

Ryan's sudden discovery of his fetish was priceless. There are many adorable moments in this book such as the aforementioned embarrassing fetish discovery, giggly chapstick exchange and the Great Shoe Operation was utterly romantic!

Here's my assortment of feelz for this book...

Fell in love with the Hoobajoob socks monkey

I want him please? Found him on the internet and fell in love with him. He makes me wish I could sew well.

Haz too much happy magic mushrooms

Touching, heart-warming moments worth a thousand words

Moments of intense annoyance over some idiots!

Lastly, bone-meltingly sweet and romantic moments which I took my time to savor each morsel

Then, I pen this short note....

Dear Author,

Thank you for bringing Christmas and love to me.

With tears of joy,
Kyn

That ending was perfect and most meaningful. It highlights a message that bigoted fools are unworthy of your time. So don't waste your life over these shallow minds. Go live life and love without regrets as it should be.

Pick up this book, read it and love it!

[REVIEW] Oh How That Cane Hurts (Attitude Adjustment for Misbehaving Men) by Mark Maguire

Oh How That Cane Hurts (Attitude Adjustment for Misbehaving Men)Oh How That Cane Hurts by Mark Maguire
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
Recommended by: Brina Brady
Recommended for: BDSM Corporal Punishment fans
Read from December 21 to 23, 2013

A 3.5 Stars because this book has beaten me into submission.

My rump still smarts from the virtual welts and I felt slightly euphoric from the experience.

This book does weird things to me. The author is messing with my head! I mean the writing wasn't exactly professional although it is nicely done. Even so, somehow the book is compelling. Weird. What's weirdest is that I am not a masochist or a pain junkie yet why do I feel like wanting to experience a caning session for myself? *perplexed* Brina, I now know why you claim that I would wish to be caned after reading this book. :/

The dominant in me likes the squirming, struggling, quivering hot male bodies submitting to a thorough caning. The images presented waters my mouth and quickens my pulse. I wanted to hold that wicked cane for myself and do some serious punishments on perky round manly bottoms! Oohhh how I love that first caning session suffered by the author himself at the hands of his 'education enforcer'.

Maguire, the author of this story switched from TAKING the cane to GIVING it. He passionately shares with us the joys and bliss he found in both experiences. Various men flock to him for his expertise in doling out this exquisite pain. Some even seek a caning session with him as stress management therapy.

Maguire leads us through the process of setting up a caning session; from pre-preparations for building up the anticipation and fear, to the selection of canes and the art of using it. Maguire added that the disciplinary canes are also widely known as "The Attitude Adjustor" or "The Persuader" as it would usually bring about rapid "behaviour modification" for the recipient. I had my fair share of these "attitude adjustor" when I was young, I just couldn't recall how it felt like by now. I did know I was scared shitless! A whimpering mess in a corner even before that wicked cane was anywhere near me. My mom used to complain that it was very difficult to use the cane on me. *blush*

Flexibility of a cane is one of the important attributes of a disciplinary cane as it directly affects the quality of the caning itself although the thickness and the user's experience played a role too. Dragon canes are thicker and denser yet just as whippy, hence it is much severe in terms of pain delivery. Maguire himself seems to prefer the kooboo or rattan school canes with hook handle.

The thinner the cane the crueler it was. A too thick cane causes bruising which isn't the aim here. Therefore the ideal is a medium thickness cane which is whippy and capable of carrying the sting deeper hence causing more discomfort yet not as damaging. Mind you, I am just trying to sum up some of the cane selection suggestions from the book therefore please do not take it verbatim, there are many other factors that comes into play for an effective and safe caning experience. A word of caution here: Please read the book and apply your own judgment plus do more research before attempting any of this on your own. Safety first remember? Some damages are irreversible and you most certainly do not want to live with it.

I love it when Maguire candidly talks about the delightful reactions from the recipients of his punishing cane.
This. Is. Hot....

The familiar "crack - thwhack!" of a pliant crook-handled cane as it performs the good work of punishing meekly- presented manly bare buttocks is a real delight for the experienced enthusiastic giver. Administering a succession of increasingly severe strokes always produces a range of delightful noises in response.

I liked those noises. Delightful!

The caning scenes from the book kept bringing me back to Gamble Everything by Cari Waites. I can't shake off the hot images of Archer's effective and purposeful caning of poor Danny boy. The squirming and the agony shown by Danny after each session and his after care was too exquisite to forget.

This story was written in such a way that it reads almost like an instructional guide book to corporal punishment for consenting gay males who has predilection for the cane. This might sound boring but oddly it wasn't and I seriously feel it might make a good wanking material for the those with corporal punishment kink especially for the endorphins junkies. It might even appeal to YOU. I mean, just take a look at me... I am a straight woman and a non-masochist, I don't like pain yet I find this book stimulating and quite erotic. Give it a go will you? Never say never.

I guess I am affected by Maguire's earnestness in sharing his experience. It was insightful, heartfelt and most infectious! I also liked his voice and the bit of humour he would inject into his narration to keep the interest of his readers.

Description:
In this extremely horny read, Mark Maguire begins by describing a hard bare bottom caning he received as an 18 year old sixth former. It was a painful and humiliating introduction to corporal punishment, which he now dishes out to other men on a regular basis. His canings hurt a lot and he describes the techniques he uses to make his subs plead, beg, and promise to obey.

Then meet James whose partner sends him to Mark every weekend to have his bare bum striped with at least 18 hard strokes applied right where he sits down! [REVIEW] The Harem Slaves by Sabrina Jen Mountford

Recommended by: ARC/Review Copy from Author
Read from December 19 to 20, 2013 — I own a copy

Well, all I could say is that I did had a bit of fun with this one. Two foreign young and naive male backpackers was tricked into slavery in a small Turkish country ruled by a Sultan with many wives. Thus his harem was in need of more eunuchs to tend and pamper his beloved wives. I guess you all know where this is going right?

Roy and Henry now Raisha and Herietta the feminized harem slaves are subjected to a lifetime of submission and servitude, cruel chastity, sexual teasing and denial, forced cunnilingus and even used as breeding tool. They are both collared like a dog with their new feminine names etched onto their collars and of course they have to dress like a female while serving in the harem.

There is some minor corporal punishments after both of these unfortunate souls was threaten with whipping and flogging throughout almost more than half of the book before their mistresses truly start laying their law onto the men's vulnerable behind. The bondage can be considered light. The most restrictive position was being placed in a small cage which only allows enough room for standing upright and there is also the 'orgasm chair' where the men were restrained onto to service the mistresses of the harem.

I like the concept of this story but not exactly loving the execution of it. To be fair, I did enjoyed a couple of scenes in it.

Lastly, where's the pegging? I want more stimulation. >:D

NOTE: This is an ARC/Review copy extended to me by the author.

The Harem Slave

BOOK DETAILS:

Title: The Harem Slaves
Author: Sabrina Jen Mountford
Publication Date: October 12th, 2012
Type: Short Story, 19,113 words (approximate)
Genre: Femdom, Forced Feminization, Sissification, Dubcon/Noncon, Erotica
Tags/Keywords: kidnapped, captive, captivity, confinement, restricted freedom, chastity device, humiliation-degradation, dominance-submission, forced feminization, sissification, cross-dressing, femdom, heterosexual, female-dominant, erotica, forced cunnilingus, oral sex, punishment, caning, cuckoldry, drugging, slave, slavery, slave market, slave auction, slave training, eunuch, harem, castration, penectomy, b-mod, body modification, stud service, breeding, maid service, noncon-dubcon, bondage furniture, gyne chair, bondage, restrains, caged, collar, collaring

Description:
Roy and Henry are backpacking, on their gap year from university. When they are offered a chance to visit a previously unknown tiny country run by a Sultan, a last stop before they turn around had head for home, it's too tempting an offer to pass up. Little do they know, they will find themselves being offered for sale at the slave market, and after an invasive poking and prodding from the achingly beautiful princess Hadjina, they are taken away to become the princess's new eunuchs. Their story twists and turns as they end up in chastity, feminized and being domestic servants for the ladies of the harem. Their life becomes a long, unending bout of tease and denial as they squirm and squirm in their devices.

Of course it can end at any time, because the princess promises them, if their situation becomes too much, just let her know and she will arrange the surgery for them to become eunuch's after all.

The tease and denial culminates in a scene where the hapless Harem Slaves are forced to watch the Sultan 'visit' princess Hadjina while she lies back, playing idly with their cruel chastity devices... Who will break first? Will either of them manage to leave Rijakistan without becoming eunuchs?

This is a dark, dark romance story and a fantasy story which is unsuitable for under 18's. It features themes of female domination, male chastity, forced feminization, surgery, castration, tease and denial, domestic servitude and more. Any resemblance of Rijakistan to a real place is coincidental. Please don't read 'The Harem Slave' expecting realism, this is pure fantasy in every aspect.

[REVIEW] Claus: Legend of the Fat Man by Tony Bertauski

Recommended for: Great for Christmas and those young at heart.
Read from December 05 to 18, 2013 — I own a copy

4 Stars for this Bone-Freezing yet Heartwarming Book.

Nearly freeze my butt off reading this one. Felt like I have just gone through sub-zero in the North Pole. I was effectively transported to the Arctic experiencing blinding white snow and bone-deep chills. Besides that the reindeer rides almost ripped my poor acrophobic heart out. No amount of preparation could have calm my heart enough for such a rough ride. The World's Top Rollercoaster ride would simply be kiddie rides in comparison.

The story begun in year 1818, with an adventurous family of three trekking through the harsh Arctic environment with undying determination to reach the North Pole. It is a feat no one has yet succeeded. Unfortunately their plans was foiled when they were left for dead by their guides and a snow storm was raging. The Santa family was torn apart during that storm and Jessica and her teenage son Jon was left to fend for themselves when Nicholas disappeared in the storm while trying to locate their guides. Unbeknownst to the Santas, they were in for the biggest adventure of their lifetime when they were sucked into the scientifically advance world of the Nordic elven. Although it's a mathematical world with much scifi elements in it, I still find it magical and wondrous!

In Claus, we get to meet lots of fantastical creatures and legendary beings in the land of forever winter. Just to name a few, there is the famed 9 reindeers with Rudy being the biggest and strongest of the herd, the Abominable Snowmans, the round rolly-polly Nordic elven, cold and dangerous Jack Frost, and on goes the list. Only thing is... they all come with a twist, a scientific one of course since this is a scifi cum fantasy take on the legendary red robe fat man. Think genetic manipulation, energy field devices, holographic displays, space compressor and atom fragmenters, doesn't it all spells fun and adventures? So many wondrous things to keep us entertained. Asides from the fun and gripping adventure, the text was powerful enough to help cool down the temperature of my oven-like room. Snow and freezing water never left my mind throughout the story and what a treat it was for a tropical dweller like me. *bliss*

Cane the smallest and oddest elf is probably my favorite character although he is mute and was only a side character with a small role. For some reasons he is very endearing to me. It could be my motherly instinct taking hold of me. Hehehe. I felt that Cane is the character who has truly lost something most precious to him and my heart aches for him.

As for the rest of the characters they were well developed and round (no pun intended). They each have their own background and unique characteristic. They have their own hopes and dreams with strong will to back it up. In short, they are memorable characters. The author's magical pen has brought them to life vividly.

Romance was a constant here even in the midst of chaos caused by the elven war between two elven factions. The pure undying love between Nicholas and his wife Jessica was beautiful to behold. Along with the durable love between the kind hearted elven couple, Nog and Merry was just as inspiring. Then there was also the budding young love between young elven Tinsel and Jon.

Jack, the negative force in this story was just a misguided and misunderstood soul. He could have been as great as Claus if he was given the same opportunity to shine, to be accepted and acknowledged.
Spoiler:
Unfortunately the elven has lost track of what is important especially in the upbringing of a child. Poor Jack was shut out by his own people, even his own twin brother and mother was essentially ignoring his existence just because he was different, a freak of nature, an unintended results of a genetic manipulations to create the perfect ruler. Hence he was the so-called unwanted extra, a defective child whereas his brother was the ideal their people sought after. Jack has my empathy as he is only a product of negligence and discrimination. Jack is a lonely soul not by own desire but of disregards and unfair treatments. All he ever seek for was acceptance and love. I could understand his self preservation ways through his tyrannic rulings over the elven.
I guess he who sows bad seeds, shall reap bitter fruits.

What didn't worked well for me was the ending. It was a little abrupt with some loose ends left whipping in the cold winter wind.
Spoiler:
Seems like Santa just got up one day and decided to travel the world gifting children with toys just because of his sudden fancy. I know that he thinks it's time to announce and unite the elven with humans but why setting such a tradition of gift distribution? It's just that the idea was not properly introduced therefore it felt plastered on just for a jolly ending for the Christmas season.
Another peeve was with what had happened to Jon Santa after that unfortunate incident while escaping the six-leggers creatures.
Spoiler:
Why on earth does he need to lose his memories just to become an elven? So that he could be with Tinsel? He could be an elven and love Tinsel and his new life even with his memories intact right? It was a cruel thing to do to a mother. Jessica doesn't need this test of love to prove her love for her only child. She does not deserve any further pain. To me it wasn't a necessary plot to steer the story and it felt more like a nuisance to irk me. *Takes deep calming breath* Sigh... perhaps it was a plot to separate Jon and his mother in order to develop Jon and Tinsel's budding love. And, to project the strong spirit and bravery of Jessica and Nog when they were both on the run together. Damnit! it pains me to see Nog leaving Merry behind on his quest to save and protect Jessica.

Lessons of the story...
Never play god.
Never ever try to cheat Mother Nature.
Balance is the way to keep the cycle of nature healthy.
Greed only leads to destruction.
Never forsake your child.
Never underestimate anyone.
Never judge a person by external appearance.
Discrimination is an act of cruelty, an assault on human rights.
Courage and determination leads you towards your goal.
Love prevails and kindness rules.

Tony Bertauski has certainly revamped the legend of Santa and making it hip and current. The story and its charming characters touched my heart and warmed my soul. It is a lovely book for those young at heart and great for the winter holiday season.

[MANGA REVIEW] Casino Lily by Youka Nitta

Recommended by: Haru Wo Daiteita Vol. 6 - They were in a chapter.
Recommended for: Those who enjoys sensual sex scenes and lovely artwork.
Read from November 30 to December 16, 2013

I got curious about Magira and Carlos in Casino Lily when I was reading Haru wo Daiteita - Embracing Love Vol. 6. They both made a cameo when Iwaki and Katou of Haru Wo Daiteita was vacationing in LA.

In Casino Lily, Magira was gambling another suitor's money in Carlos' Las Vegas casino. Carlos was smitten by Magira's charm and his amazing wining streak at the bet table. He was also curious about this lovely Japanese man who was nicknamed Casino Lily.

Yuki Magira was actually trying his best to break a gambling curse whereby he would not win as long as he is gambling his own money. But when it comes to gambling with other people's money, it was zero losses. He had made a promised with someone he loved back at Japan that he would give up on gambling if he is not able to break this curse of his.

Overall, the story was engaging but it wasn't on par with Nitta sensei's other work especially her groundbreaking work, Haru Wo Daiteita. I didn't feel as deeply connected with the characters in Casino Lily. I do like them though. They are lovely to look at and as usual, Nitta Sensei's sex scenes are always sensual and beautiful to ogle look at.

I did enjoyed Carlos' suaveness and his confidence air. He is such a lovely presence. Thing is, I didn't understand his attraction towards Magira. His fixation was unnatural for a man of his standing - he could have anything or anyone. Did he fall for Magira's willfulness? Magira wasn't exactly known to be faithful. In fact, he was promiscuous. Carlos certainly have odd taste.

Meet Carlos (on the left) and Magira (on the right)

Charming and suave Carlos blinded by his lust love for beautiful Magira.

Met them at Haru Wo Daiteita Vol. 6 when they chance upon both Iwaki and Katou during their trip to LA for a vacation. Now I gotta read about their story - the story of Magira and Carlos. I would love to know how they ended up together and having that kind of relationship.

[REVIEW] To Dragons Bound (To Dragons Bound, #1-5) by Clara Bright

Buddy Read: MLE, Elspeth, Vivian Archer on December 10th, 2013
Read from December 10 to 12, 2013 — I own a copy, read count: 1

I struggled with this book. Tried as I might to ignore the unpolished writings, I couldn't get pass the jarring texts to immerse myself into the story. I was regularly jolted out of the story by the weak composition, odd word choice, redundant conjunctives and excessive adverbs.

The out-of-the-norm passivity of the protagonist was not helping to endear him to me either. Throughout the story Alim had only shown token resentment towards the dragon lord for the unfair treatment of him and his family. His show of indignation felt rather perfunctory. Moreover, how could he not worry for his elderly grandfather who was left to fend for himself now that he has also lost Alim to their tyrannic ruler?

Sadly, the rest of the characters are also one-dimensional hence I couldn't find any worthy ones to vouch for. I didn't even feel hate or disgust for the villains either nor do I find them interesting. Another thing to note is that the mpreg side of the story was mostly glossed over. Bummer.

The book primarily focus on the sex-tango between Alim and his mate, Prince Erol plus Alim and Prince Aras the jealous royal brother. Consequently, sex is plentiful in this book and the author has been creative with it. I liked the different settings for the debaucheries and also the beastly sex. Yet once again, it could have been good if the writings works the way it should. Sorry, I am beginning to sound like a broken record here.

The premise itself was quite a promising one it's the execution that failed due to inexperience writing. With more experience and getting better help on proofreading and editing, this could have rocked my world and I am sure it would hit the spot with other readers too.

I have to blamed it on my recent rotten luck with books because this month alone I have bought not one BUT two poorly written book that needs serious editing AND both are ridiculously priced.

I have always been willing to try out new indie authors as I am quite an adventurous risk taker in terms of reading. I guess, I can't be hitting the jackpot always. Seems like I should go do some serious ass-kissing for the book-leprechauns to get back in their good graces again.

Lastly, I have developed deep feelings for this picture after reading the book.

It made me empathize with Alim's predicament.

Description:
The weather was good the day they came for him. At least there was that. Alim could savor the sun on his back while he tended the garden behind his grandfather's house, his mind far from the craggy mountain at the distant western edge of the plain. The mountain loomed over and, by way of its multitudinous mine shafts, lurked under the entire island. The stone tower and its tyrant master lurked also in the minds of the islanders, forever in the very back of their minds as a vague but certain threat. In early spring, just after last frost, the threat came to the forefront of their minds.

But that time was past now; summer sun peered through the wispy clouds and warmed the breezes of late spring. Young, green leaves poked above the tilled earth in defiance of oppression. The island, and Alim with it, was at ease.
---
Alim's easy life is doomed to end one sunny day when the lord of his island, a fearsome dragon who enslaves his people to toil under the mountain, sends a raiding party to steal him away. Him, and only him. To Alim's shock and disgust, he discovers he's been torn from his family to serve as consort to the lord's heir, the haughty and demanding Erol, who presents the appearance not of a dragon but of a statuesque young man. Worse, he's expected to become the vessel for Erol's child, and Erol's equally possessive brother is chomping at the bit to seed him first and claim their father's throne.

[REVIEW] Worthy by Lia Black

Recommended for: Fluffy Slavefic aficionados
Read from December 05 to 10, 2013 — I own a copy, read count: 1

3 Stars for the effort and for being a good diversion to pass the time.

A sweet and caloric slavefic fairytale. Enjoyable at first bite, unfortunately it only makes you hunger for something more sustainable than a sugar fix. (See this? I could write short reviews too)

Dare I stop my review here? I could, couldn't I? I maybe should too. Because what comes after this is a product of my over analyzing.

Nudge me if you wish for my trademark long-ass review.

*Edits 10/12/13 @ 11.03pm:
I have just answered some fun and interesting questionnaires on this book over at the Goodreads BDSM Group . I thought maybe I should share it here as well:

WARNING:  MAY CONTAIN SPOILER - Highlight text selection to read content.

1. Do you have a favorite character? Why?

Maybe Demetrie. His way of enjoying Sev's body excites me. Just like Sev, I am taken with Demetrie's commanding air and finding him hard to resist. That's something rare for me as I usually see myself from the perspective of the dom rather than the sub.

I wished I could like the protagonist better but to me, Sev is not a well developed character. For someone who has known joy of family even only an adoptive one and used to having his own freedom, Sev does seem to give up on his identity and self worth quite easily. Many times he feels much like a puppet without free will and lacks sense of self preservation. This was observed even at the early stage of Demetrie's ownership of him. He does not even question internally on Demetrie's demanding request of him. He is too naive and trusting to be a street smart boy with a nomadic tribe upbringing. This doll like quality of his is rather disturbing.

2. Does a particular scene stick in your mind? Or a quote? What resonated with you?
I like Demetrie's blindfold punishment for Sev. Very interesting way of training trust. Just like one would apply to an animal like a horse. I just read one femdom story on human pony training that applies such technique too. Fascinating. >:D

3. Homogeneity is important to Athena. What was your reaction?
A place that lacks originality and individuality. No wonder Demetrie is so bored of his life there. In real life homogeneity is also known as racism ;)

In the olden days, aristocrats tends to put very high standards on pure blood marriages. This might also still be true till this age and time.

4. This is a highly stratified society with roles strictly delineated. Do you think our society is similar? Maybe we don't acknowledge it, but it exists?
Yes it does exist in our real world. Look around you. The poor is still dirt poor and the rich is still filthy rich. Who will have the more power? Money makes the political world goes round. What would that means to the lower income class? We feel such oppression daily.

Athena seems to be a place that discourages change in order to maintain firm control over its citizen and resources. Those who refused to conform would be ousted like Demetrie as a safeguard to its system.

This unfortunately leads me to question the plotline whereby Demetrie gave his title and name to Sev when he decided to leave Athena as an outcast. I mean how could this possibly be done when Demetrie himself is to be stripped off his title even to the extend that his assets will be seized just because he wouldn't fulfill his obligation as an aristocrat? There is simply no reason whatsoever for Athena or its aristocratic members to honor Demetrie's transfer of his title and name to Sev a mere dreg with zero rights or even simple recognition as a human being? To me, this plotline is OTT and does not conform with the oppressive and autocratic universe created by the author.

5. What did you think of Demetrie's plan?
Childish and fanciful, borderline idiotic. It shouldn't even be successful or plausible if the plots were tight enough and if the characters are well built. Yes I am saying it IS unrealistic. It is contradictory to the strict caste system of Athena. Think politically... would Demetrie's rebellious, traitorous way of escaping the system be ignored by his autocratic government? Wouldn't it be wiser for them to curb it at its stem before it becomes a precedent?

This quote sums up Athena for us:
Michael nodded. “I heard that Athena cleared out another section of her ghetto last night. What are they calling it these days? Oh yes, ‘progressive beautification’.” He shook his head slowly. Soon there would be no ghettos; the dregs would be buried under swimming pools, shopping centers, and aristolitical complexes. The sign of a thriving society was its lack of a lower caste, and since raising dregs up economically, socially, and politically would create a strain on the wealthy, it made far more sense to eliminate the problem more permanently by eliminating those who suffered it.

6. Do you think the author's story answered the member's photo and prompt?
Firstly, I am excited a photo of the bookcover from one of my favorite M/M Psychological Thriller graphic novel was used In These Words by Kichiku Neko & TogaQ. TogaQ's art is to die-for. And Kichiku Neko writes awesome psychological thrillers of the erotic kind.

Okay back to the prompt. I think it was answered quite well. The author even incorporated the limberness of the slave in the picture into the story and the cards strewed across the floor was also applied to the story. I dig the sex scenes too. It was sensual and erotic.

7. Do you wish something different was done or incorporated into the story?
Not really. The author tried her best to deliver according to the prompt and she has succeeded in that goal alone. I hope that by reading the honest reviews of her readers, she would be able to improve her writings further, especially in terms of character development and making tighter plotlines. I could see that she has lots of potential to excel. All she needs was more experience and constructive feedbacks.

[REVIEW] Stung (Zombie Gentlemen) by K.A. Merikan

Stung (Zombie Gentlemen)Stung by K.A. Merikan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 Stars especially for that realistic ending!

Stung was set in a Victorian Dystopia world whereby a zombie plague has created an oppressed society struggling to co-exist with the undead. This story is actually part of the Zombie Gentlemen series by K.A. Merikan which consist of a pair of talented authors, Kat and Agnes Merikan. Eventhough I have yet to read the rest of the series, I did not encounter any problem following this standalone story.

Basically Stung was about Victor a pretty boy from the city latching on to Crunch a sting operative tough guy who was masquerading as a guard at a mob ran prison camp where Victor was wrongfully incarcerated due to a flash of his own stupidity. Crunch was there to carry out out a dangerous secret mission to liberate the abused captives from the camp which was actually a large farm where prisoners were forced to perform hard labour. The prisoners were cruelly worked till they wither away. Needless to say the environment was a harsh one. Best pray for a short life than to struggle each day at Honeyhill farm. Victor is smart enough to know he wouldn't survive a day without a protector.

Luckily for us and Victor himself that he isn't some air-head people might think he is due to his outward appearance. He may look like a delicate flower, beautiful, all helpless and clueless, yet he is about to prove to everyone he isn't all that simple. He is to me, quite like the alluring Venus Flytrap; unsuspecting victims would find themselves lured in by its compelling scent and once ensnared it's a road of no return. Even so, it is a road willingly traveled by Crunch to partake in the comely sweetness of this little lost lamb who had so brazenly sought him as an anchor with his honeyed lips and delectable body. Make no mistakes, this lamb bites deep and would trample bad guys mercilessly when provoked. Have no fear though because kisses and cuddles are lavished upon his saviour and protector. When Victor is sweet, he has a cat-like demeanor; he will be all affectionate, snuggly, and would sniff Crunch all over stealing his manly scents for comfort. I do suspect he has a scent fetish.
“But you wouldn’t ‘crunch’ my bones, would you?” muttered Victor, pressing a soft kiss to the underside of his jaw. Accompanying it were a quiet sound and a rush of air. Victor was sniffing him. For a moment, Crunch felt self conscious, but since Victor wasn’t moving away, it had to be a pleasant scent for him.

So what about the sex then?
I'll say it was nicely done. It was sexy and exciting and I am glad it wasn't overly done unlike many other books of this genre which tends to fail on finding the right balance between the sex and the story. There's a touch of light manhandling during the sexy times that I quite enjoy in my books. Apart from that, the romance was also very realistic. I totally buy it. What they had is a slow burn kind of romance.
I wish to share here a sample of their flirty banter...

“What is it, Mr. Crunch?” Victor bit his lip, slowly rubbing his calf over Crunch’s knee.

Crunch pulled down his trousers and finally set his cock free. It was dying to get between Victor’s juicy lips. “Ya ready for dessert?” he grunted, slouching over the other man.

“I thought I just ate some cake and fruit.” Victor's face was tense with attempts to stop a smile, but it wasn't working and soon, he was beaming in the semi-darkness.

“Now ya gonna get some cream,” Crunch panted and kneeled closer above Victor’s face. His stiff prick looked like it belonged there.
Victor exhaled, licking his lips with eyes focused on the cock that was now inches above him. Slowly, he spread his arms, revealing his full naked glory. With his legs slightly bent at the knees, his stomach trembling with each breath, he looked like a human sacrifice, one that Crunch was willing to devour.

They both flirts with each other a-lot. And I liked it very much. It's fun to read and lightens up the atmosphere.

And hey! what about those bees and the zombays?
No worries there, we certainly get a steady feed on the insects and the rotters - it was aptly peppered along the story as we read on. They even get to play more in the main parts of the story especially at the ending. All I could say was Victor was ever so glad for their assistance.

The morbid ones would be happy to know that they wouldn't be missing out on zombay nom-nommy scenes. It was very nicely done, I didn't even have any urge to spray-paint my stomach content on my desk. Truthfully Stung did have some icky parts but it wasn't over the top kind.

The unique 'gardening' everyone mentioned in their review reminds me much of...

Spoiler:
HEY, DON'T 'CLICK' IT! IT'S A GODDAMN SPOILER FOR GOD'S SAKE!)

The next questions is: Will this story be alright for those faint-hearted? My answer is... GO FOR IT! Even a chicken-shit like me could survive this book without a scratch. Frankly, due to the cover, the blurb, the reviews and my past experience with Playing with Food, a bizarre and morbid book by the these two brilliant authors, I had mentally prepared myself for some sort of fright affair with this book. I really can't do gore very well so I was quite apprehensive initially to read it. But that beautiful and hyper erotic cover was screaming at me to read it. I knew I just had to, and I am glad I did. So no regrets whatsoever. It has been a wonderful experience.

Lastly, I must applaud the authors for an ending that stays true with the story and its characters. I was surprised the ending has taken such an unexpected twist than what I have imagined it would be... you know those skull numbing, boring, formulaic forced HEAs? I thought it would focus on...
Spoiler:
Crunch leading the Humanist in a battle-out with the mobster's gang and Crunch would be the one to avenge Victor by killing that evil bastard Sharpe. Then confetti in the air... Crunch and the rescued damsel Victor lives happily ever after.
Blargh, thank god that DID NOT happen and I am forever grateful for that. Disney-ish ending begone! *throws confetti in celebration* Mind you, I am not saying there is no happy ending kay. It's just a much better and believable version that's what I mean.

--- If you want honey, prepare to get stung. ---

October 1907, Honeyhill
Twenty years into the zombie Plague

Victor is a man of delicate sensibilities, not fit to do backbreaking labour on a farm ran by the mob. Upon arrival in Honeyhill, he decides he needs an anchor, an alliance with one of the guards, if he wants to survive. That anchor comes in the form of Crunch, a hunky ex-sailor with a pair of tight leather trousers and a ruggedly handsome face.

But from day one, Victor knows he won’t last long with the hard physical work assigned to him and the torment he suffers at the hands of a sadistic guard. He needs to run, and his new alliance might prove to be a burden instead of solace.

If Crunch wants Honeyhill liberated, he needs to focus on his job, not on protecting Victor, one of many new arrivals on the farm. Distraction is the last thing he needs after months of undercover work. But it’s hard not to get seduced by Victor's big brown eyes and fingertips that don’t know work. Hundreds of people depend on Crunch keeping his identity a secret, revealing it could be fatal for both him and Victor, and a failure of his mission. Thankfully, Victor would never be dumb enough to try and escape through a forest that's swarming with zombies. Would he?
